91st Ernie Pieper Santa Clara County Championship

After an incredible weekend of golf, congratulations to both our champions Boots Del Biaggio and Jim Knoll!

In the Championship Division, Boots Del Biaggio and Chris Meyers both finished with scores of 212 and headed out to the first hole of sudden death to determine our 91st Champion. Boots Del Biaggio, playing out of San Jose Country Club and an incoming Sophmore at Santa Clara University, played fantastic golf with rounds of 72-68-72 while Chris Meyers, a sophomore from Stanford University, played wonderful golf with rounds of 73-69-70. Both players hit it onto the green in two with Chris barely missing a 25 footer for birdie. Boots calmly stepped up to his 6-footer and rolled the ball into the back of the hole for birdie and the win! 43 players shooting 76 or better made the cut to Sunday morning and 18 players shot 147 or better to complete the third and final round.

In the Senior Division, Jim Knoll, a two-time winner played stellar golf with rounds of 71-71 to win by 3 strokes over Mark Klemczak, who plays out of San Jose Country Club. Jim recorded 3 birdies on his last 4 holes by chipping in on 15, making a nice two-putt birdie on 17, and capping it off with an 8-footer on 18. 16 players scored 79 or better to make the final round on Sunday.

San Jose Country Club again partnered with The First Tee of Silicon Valley with the juniors being standard bearers for the final groups in the Championship and Senior Division.
